A few years ago I was looking everywhere for a necklace to go with a dress I was wearing to a wedding. I knew exactly what I wanted but I couldn’t find it anywhere.
I decided that I fancied having a go at seeing if I could make it myself.
I went and bought some beads and wire and came home and started. (It was a bit of an experiment really to see if I could do it). To my surprise I loved what I had created, it was exactly what I wanted and it expressed part of my personality.
My little experimentation was a blessing because I had found a way to express myself. I have always loved colour, (I am not a person who sticks to wearing the same colours, I love to experiment), and creating jewelry allows me to express that. I want the pieces I create to be fun and playful.
People began to ask where I had got my jewelry from and when I said I had made it people began to ask if I could make something for them. This is how I began to experience the joy of creating pieces with people.
Jewelry for me is about expressing who we are, and whether you commission me to make a piece or select one of the pieces I have already created you are selecting that piece and that piece reflects something about you.
